Would'ja Look At This New Site?!
Welcome to the new site! If you’re reading this, you’ve survived the assault on your retinas that is my color palette. Congratulations on your fortitude.
Why Hugo?
Because sometimes you want your blog posts to be plain text files that you can read in any editor, version control with git, and know will still be readable in 20 years.
Also it’s fast. Like, absurdly fast. No database, no PHP, just pure unadulterated shenanigans rendered to HTML.

On Design Choices (Or: Why Does This Site Look Like a Lisa Frank Trapper Keeper?)
Everyone’s doing clean, minimal, Helvetica-on-white websites these days. And that’s fine. Those sites are perfectly readable and professional and utterly devoid of whimsy.
The case for chaos
Remember when the web was fun? When every Geocities page had a different background GIF and at least three “Under Construction” signs? When choosing a color palette meant “all of them”?
I’m not saying we should go back to
<blink>tags and auto-playing MIDI files. But maybe we overcorrected.
